Catalina M. "Katie" Schaefer, 77, of Ashford, passed away Thursday Sept. 4, 2008, at St. Joseph Hospital, town of Polk.

She was born on April 2, 1931, in Fond du Lac, the daughter of Jesus and Esther Tejada Hernandez.

On May 8, 1954, she married Kenneth H. Schaefer at Presentation Catholic Church in North Fond du Lac.

Katie worked at the Archway Cookie Factory in Fond du Lac and then at California Canners and Growers in Lomira.

She was a member of St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Ashford, the Campbellsport VFW Post 8339 Auxiliary and the Fond du Lac DAV Auxiliary.

Katie had a great love for her cats.
 
Survivors include her husband, Ken; her sons, Martin (Debbie) of St. Cloud, Ken Jr. (Tracey) of Green Bay and Allan (Cheryl) of Fond du Lac; her grandchildren, Jennifer, Erik (Miki), Molly (Delton), Bobbie Jo, Curtis (special friend Danielle), Bradley and Ashley; her great grandchildren Bailey, Ariana, Aiden and Lila, her brothers, Rudy (Marlys) Hernandez and Walter (Elizabeth) Eichmann; her sisters Cora (John) Lambert, Rachael Pack, Sophia (Wayne) Ristau and Gloria Eichmann; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Walter Eichmann; an infant son, Jesse; two brothers, Augie and Peter Hernandez; and a sister, Esther Crowe.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Monday at St. Martin’s Catholic Church, Ashford (N1271 Minnie Lane Campbellsport). The Rev. Neil Zinthefer will officiate and burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Twohig Funeral Home, 109 W. Main St., Campbellsport, and on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church. www.twohigfunerals.com.
