A funeral service for Ardena Blank of Cedarburg will be held at 6 p.m. on Sept. 18 at Advent Lutheran Church in Cedarburg. Ardena passed away unexpectedly on Friday, Sept. 12, 2008, at the age of 88. The Rev. Dr. Janis Kinens will officiate the funeral service. Visitation will take place at the church on Thursday, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., prior to the service. Interment will take place at Pinelawn Cemetery in Milwaukee. Mueller Funeral Home in Cedarburg is serving the family.
Ardena was born on Dec. 31, 1919 in West Bloomfield, daughter of the late Otto Wilke and Nora (nŽe Kamp) Wilke. On Feb. 20, 1942, Ardena married the late Rayborn Blank in Alexandria, La. Their marriage was blessed with two sons.
Ardena lived most of her life in Milwaukee. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, where she served on various committees and was the editor of the church paper for many years. Ardena loved to plan events, get family and friends together, and she loved to cook for everyone she knew.
Ardena was a passionate Christian, and was recently a member of Advent Lutheran Church in Cedarburg. Her faith and family were the most important parts of her life. Ardena enjoyed her life and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Ardena is survived by her sons, Dudley (Karen) Blank and Michael Blank; grandchildren, Steve (Katie) Blank, Jocelyn (Jeremy) Gehrke, Jeff Blank, Eryka Blank, Carly Blank and Christopher Blank; great-grandchildren, Tela Gehrke, Gretchen Gehrke and Kenzie Gehrke; and siblings, Clifford (Mary) Wilke and Beverly Steffen. She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Ardena was preceded in death by her husband, Rayborn; and two grandchildren, Gretchen Blank and Jonathan Blank.
