Dane A. Dettmann, the journey ended at his home on Monday, Sept. 22, 2008, surrounded by the love of his family, at the age of 17 years.

Dane was born on Jan. 17, 1991 at St. Luke’s Medical Center of Milwaukee to Colleen White. He grew up in West Bend, attending Decorah Elementary School, Silverbrook Middle School and West Bend West High School.

Dane’s interests were many, in addition to muscle cars, RC cars and music. He was a wonderful, loving son and brother who always put his family first.

Dane is survived by his loving and devoted mother and father, Colleen and Michael Alan; beloved brother, Derrick; special sister, Shayna; and his best friend and special pet Snoop. Further survived by his grandmas, grandpas, uncle Mike, other aunties and uncles; his special friends, Jessica, Eric and Sheryl, Ashely, Matt, Greg, Zachery, Brandy, James and cousin Shannon; his godmothers, Kathy Brzonkala and Yvonne Gaspardo; niece, Jessica; nephew Calvin; along with other relatives, countless friends, many of whom helped make it possible for Dane to remain at home during his illness.

Preceded in death by Ian Jay Allan, Papa Dave, great-grandma and greatgrandpa White and greatgrandpa Kerlin.

A gathering to celebrate Dane’s life will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel of West Bend with Marie Cochran officiating.

Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from noon until time of service, 2: p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials would be greatly appreciated to the family or the MDA Foundation, 2949 N. Mayfair Road, Suite 106, Wauwatosa, WI 53222, in Dane’s name.

The family will be forever grateful for all the loving support he received, including Dr. John Humphrey, Jayne Swoboda and Carmen.
