Jonnie K. Schloemer, 65
Jonnie Kay Schloemer (Rogers) entered
into eternal peace on Sept. 26, 2008.
Jonnie was born into the loving arms of the late Paul and Mary (Donges)
Rogers on Sept. 1, 1943, in Springfield, Ill.
At age 19, Jonnie married her soulmate, Donald J. Schloemer
"DJ," on May 19, 1962, at St. Killian Church in Hartford. They
spent 20 years together before he preceded her in death in 1982.
Jonnie grew up with 10 brothers and sisters in a small house on Pike Lake
in Hartford. She also grew up on a farm in Richfield.
Her children remember her telling them stories about her life growing up.
As a young girl, Jonnie was proud of winning spelling bees in school. She
also sang in the school choir. She loved old, classic country music; but
her most favorite performer was Elvis Presley.
Jonnie participated in singing contests along with making her own
recording tapes at Graceland Studios in Memphis, Tenn.
Jonnie will be remembered most for making Halloween displays in her front
yard every year. She also loved the Christmas season where she showered
her loved ones with many gifts of love.
She enjoyed ice cream, Tootsie Rolls, Chinese food and Diet Pepsi. Jonnie
loved riding on Harley motorcycles and traveled up north often with
special friends.
She enjoyed spending time with her family the most. Her most precious time
spent was with grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She will be deeply missed by all her family and friends.
We love you so much mom!
Jonnie is survived by her loving daughters, Dawn Schloemer, Donna Fichtner;
and her precious son, Donald. J. Schloemer Jr. (special friend Jennifer);
her adoring grandchildren, Amanda, Brad, Joey, Nicole, Kaitlin; and great
granddaughter, Annessa. She will be further missed by her brothers and
sisters, June Neu, Deanna Vielbaum, Susie McCrea, William Rogers, Dale
Rogers, James Rogers and Penny Rogers; nieces, nephews, other relatives
and special friends.
Jonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Donald J. Schloemer Sr. in
1982; her parents; her brothers, Steve and Greg Rogers; her sister,
Shirley Rogers; her grandson Donald Joseph Schloemer III; and her
son-in-law, Dean Fichtner.
Upon Jonnies wishes, there will be no funeral service. A memorial service
will be held in remembrance of Jonnie at a later date.
The family would like to thank the Hartford Healthcare Center and
Heartland Hospice for all their loving care.
We’d also like to thank everyone who knew and loved Jonnie and kept her
