Robert L. Smasal
Robert L. Smasal of Cedarburg went to his heavenly home on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008 at the age of 82, as he was surrounded by his entire loving family, during a brief but courageous battle with cancer. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated for Robert at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 1, at St. Francis Borgia Church North, 1375 Covered Bridge Road, in Cedarburg. Visitation will be held today, Sept. 30, from 4:30 p.m. until 8 p.m (to include a prayer vigil at 7:30 p.m.) at the Schramka-Densow Funeral Home, 423 N. Main St., in Thiensville. Visitation will also be held on Wednesday morning at the church, from 10:30 a.m. until the celebration of the Mass.
Bob retired following a 40-year career with the Wisconsin Telephone Company. Some of his many accomplishments included serving in World War II, being a member of the Peter Wollner American Legion Post 288 and a past Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus Post 4520. He also held the position of head usher at St. Francis Borgia Church for many years, which he enjoyed. His three favorite passions were spending time with family, playing cards and fishing for the big one.
Robert was the beloved husband of Ruth J. (nee Lubiejewski) Smasal; the dear father of Christine (William) Kuykendall, Timothy (Jane), Debra (Mark) Oberlin, Joan (Donald) Sommer, Mary (Daryl) Faber and James (Lori); the proud grandfather of 19 loving grandchildren and three precious great-grandchildren; and the brother to Barbara (Willard) Ward and Lorraine Angel. He is further survived by two sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
