Germann L. "Dick" Schommer

Germann L. "Dick" Schommer, of Cedarburg, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, March 24, 2009, at the age of 88.

Dick was the beloved husband of Loretta Schommer (nee Schneider) for 61 years; loving father of Ann (Fred) Schroedl of Hartford, Richard (Lori) Schommer of Franklin and Mark (Lori) Schommer of Muskego; proud grandfather of Chad and Lee Schroedl, Kyle Schommer, and Paul and Brett Schommer; dear brother of Margaret Sonntag, Eileen Schneider and Rosemary (Henry) Schadt.

He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters; Verona, Frances, Roman and Edward. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Dick worked with the Milwaukee Public School System as a teacher at James Madison High School, member of the Carpenters Union, Army Veteran of World War II, longtime member of St. Francis Borgia Church in Cedarburg and member of the Knights of Columbus.

Dick enjoyed many good times with family and friends during his retirement at their cottage on Fox Lake.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Friday, March 27, at St. Francis Borgia Church. The family received guests at the church from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. A private interment was at St. Francis Borgia Cemetery.
