Carl S. Bernhard

Carl S. Bernhard, 85, of Mayville, formerally of Theresa, passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2009, at St. Agnes Hospital in Fon du Lac.

Carl was born March 13, 1924, in Theresa. He was the son of Charles and Anna (nee Adelmeyer) Bernhard. He was united in marriage to Gladys H. Werner on July 31, 1943, at St. Stephen Evangelical Lutheran Church in Horicon. He was employed by Baker Canning Co., Serwe Implement and retired from Dairyland Implement. He was a member of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church of Theresa, served as Zone Chairman and Deputy District Governor, was a member of the Tn. Board of Theresa on the dodge County Supervisors, chairman of the Dodge County Housing Authority, charter member of the Pioneer Snowmobile Club and was an active member of the Theres Historical Society. Carl enjoyed watching and feeding his birds and working in his flower and vegetable gardns. He enjoyed spending time in Northern Wisconsin and going for rides in his car. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his children, Robert (Carol) Bernhard of Theresa, Ronald (Karen) Bernhard of Lomira, Karen Schwenk of Milwaukee, Sarah Bernhard of West Bend and Charles (Marlene) Bernhard of Theresa; ten grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; special friend, Marie Jones of Fond du Lac; brother-in-law, Doug Carselle of St. Paul, Minn.; niece, Bonnie (Bob) Sherly of Illinois; special friends of the family, Ann Fuerbringer of West Bend and Victor Lucas of Theresa. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Anna, in 2006; a sister, Mildrend; a brother, Clarence; a son-in-law, Ronald, and a granddaughter, Angela.

A funeral service for Carl will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2009, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Theresa at 2:30 p.m., with the Rev. Steven Bode officiating. Inurnment will be held at Graceland Cemetery in Mayville. Visitation will be held Saturday at St. Peter Church in Theresa from noon until the 2:30 p.m. time of service.
