LeRoy W. "Tyrone" Schmidt
LeRoy W. "Tyrone" Schmidt, 57, of West Bend died Tuesday, April 7, 2009, at his residence.
He was born May 25, 1951, in West Bend to Harold "Shorty" and Ruth (nee Bohn) Schmidt and married Mary Cay Richardson Muckerheide on June 24, 2000, at Holy Angels Catholic Church in West Bend.
LeRoy graduated from Kewaskum High School in 1969. He worked at the Gehl Company, Surak Electric and at the time of his death was employed at Maysteel in Allenton. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, spending time at the Longbranch Saloon with his friends, sitting on the porch while listening to Brewers games and wearing a hat almost all the time.
LeRoy received a lot of satisfaction while spending time with his loyal black lab companions Blackie and Thor.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Cay; his parents, Harold "Shorty" and Ruth Schmidt; and four siblings and their families, Diane and Jack Zalewski of Kewaskum and their daughter Shawn and Scott Zimmerman of Forest Hills, N.Y.; Jane and Gerald "Hap" Rettler of Campbellsport and their children Ben and Heather Rettler of Slinger, Andy and Sue Rettler of West Bend and Melissa and Ricky Kratz of Slinger; Joyce and Bob Bernhagen of Kewaskum and their children Craig Bernhagen and Anna Bernhagen of Kewaskum and David and Karen Schmidt of Hartford and his daughter Nikki Schmidt of Sussex who is LeRoy’s god-daughter. He is further survived by his mother-in-law, Patricia Muckerheide of Fond du Lac; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jim and Sandy Muckerheide of West Bend, Mary Ann and Joe Wiener of Chippewa Falls, Bob and Linda Muckerheide of Fresco, Texas, Bernie and Stevie Muckerheide of Jackson, Ga., Mary Pat and John Kirsch of Malone, Mary Jo and Joe Klein of Milwaukee, Mark Muckerheide of Vancouver, Wash., Paul and Debbie Muckerheide of Milwaukee, Tim Muckerheide and his special friend John Crawford of Casper, Wyo., Sonia Muckerheide of West Bend and her daughter Jessica Muckerheide of West Bend and her son Scott Muckerheide of Sheboygan Falls. LeRoy is also survived by his special friends Mike and Gail Bassill of West Bend, Steve and Heidi Lee of West Bend and other relatives, including 16 nieces and nephews and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his fathers-in-law Bernard Richardson and Clarence Muckerheide.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at 7 p.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 138 North 8th Ave., West Bend, with the Rev. Gerald Brittain presiding. Visitation will be Tuesday, at the church only from 2 p.m. until 6:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Cancer Society are appreciated.
