Renata Luttropp, a long-time Hartford resident, passed on to her heavenly home on April 5, 2009 at the age of 98 years. She was born in 1910 to John and Emilie (nee Heublein) Luttropp. Because of her father’s death when she was three years old, she was raised by her mother and maternal grandparents who lived next door on Russell Avenue.
After attending and graduating from the Hartford School System, she enrolled in Mrs. Brown’s Secretarial School. Upon completion of the secretarial course, she joined Wadham’s Oil Company which years later evolved into Exxon Oil Company.
World War Two brought changes. Renata enlisted in the WAVES, serving some of her time at the Great Lakes Naval Station. This dedication to country was followed by many years in the Naval Reserve.
Following her naval service, she traveled west to California, attempting to make a career decision while visiting cousins. Upon her return to Wisconsin, she became employed at the Milwaukee Area Technical College in a secretarial position. She enjoyed this career which extended beyond her 65th birthday.
Renata retired to numerous clubs and interests, involving herself with the Hartford City Council. She was proud to be a political conservative, a world traveler, an antique collector, a health food advocate and a dedicated member of Peace Lutheran Church. She was truly a memorable individual who enjoyed nice clothes, good times, and helping the less fortunate.
She is survived by two first cousins, Ruby Block of Berlin, WI and Ruth Redman of Waupun, WI. She is further survived by numerous second cousins, a Godchild, Nancy Berglund Abendschein, and many dear friends.
The family would like to thank the Deerview Meadows staff, Heartland Hospice, and Dr. Richard Lewis for their kind, dedicated care of Renata.
A graveside service will take place at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 25, 2009 at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hartford, followed by a reception from 10:30-11:30 AM and a memorial service at 11:30 AM at Peace Lutheran Church, Hartford. Rev. Aaron Steinbrenner will officiate. The Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home is serving the family.
Memorials may be given in Renata’s name to Heartland Hospice, 13255 West Bluemound Road, Brookfield, WI 53005, or to Peace Lutheran Church.
