Russell G. Luepnitz Sr., 65

Russell G. Luepnitz Sr. of West Bend passed away at home, surrounded and supported by his loving family, on Monday, April 20, 2009 after 65 years of life.

Russell was born on Nov. 1, 1943, the son of Willard A. and Lillian W. (nee Page) Luepnitz, in Pontiac, Mich. He was raised in Moran, Mich. After his education, he joined the United States Navy and served honorably during the Vietnam Era. Upon his return, he dedicated his skill to working in the tool and die industry. On Oct. 11, 1979, Russell married Susan Faith Trader, and they began a loving family of their own.

In his spare time, he enjoyed camping, nature and devoting time to being a "jack of all trades." Above all, he loved being with and tickling his grandchildren.

He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Susan; his children, Russell (Karen) Luepnitz of Winfield, Ala., Shelly (David) Waala of West Bend, Paula (Todd) Carlton of Kewaskum, Stephanie (Todd) Kirst of Kewaskum, and Darrell (Ash-ley) Luepnitz of Indianapolis, Ind.; cherished grandchildren, Richard, Erika, Quinton, Harri-son, Madeline, Hayden, Elijah, Keaton, Mia-Faith, Jordan, Andrew, Tyler, Trevor, Austin, Cody, Chris-tian and Mackenzie; siblings, Patricia (Joe) Thi-bault, Judy (Marcel Pozlin) Krell, Thomas (Linda) Mc-Leod and two step-sisters Kristine Mc-Leod and Rebecca Hanssen, also many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Luepnitz was preceded in death by his parents and baby Bryan Luepnitz.

The Luepnitz family would like to extend a very special thank you to their dear friends, John and Mary Schmidt, special co-workers at Seaquist Closures and Kim McLaughlin with Horizon Home Hospice.

Visitation with family and friends will be held on Friday, April 24, 2009 at the Phillip Funeral Home from 4 until 7 p.m. A funeral service will follow on Friday at the funeral home at 7 p.m., with Pastor Matt Hadley of Stillwaters Community Church officiating. Interment will take place on Saturday, April 25, 2009 at 10 a.m. at Washington County Memorial Park in West Bend, with full military honors present.
