Jerry Schowalter, 59, of Cedarburg, passed away in the early morning hours of Sunday, April 19, 2009, at West Allis Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Jerry was born in Port Washington on Nov. 14, 1949, son of Jerome "Bud" Schowalter and Mary Barclay Schowalter. Jerry grew up in Port Washington, attending Port Washington High School. On Nov. 16, 1966, he married Sandy Bremser in Port Washington. Jerry worked in the automotive industry for several area dealerships. Jerry was a former member of the Cedarburg Fire Department, and enjoyed racing stock cars, watching NASCAR and collecting NASCAR memorabilia.
He is survived by his wife, Sandy, of Cedarburg; son, Jeff (fiancˇe Kari George) of Belgium; and daughter, Jaci (Joe) Ollman of Port Washington. He is further survived by his three grandchildren, Joe Jr., Jenna and Julia Ollman; his mother, Mary of Tampa, Fla.; siblings, Barbara (Kip) Lange of Oconomowoc and Florida, Dorothy (Carl) Sjoberg of Long Beach, Calif., Mariann (Tom) Ritzer of Hartland, David (Mary Ann) Schowalter of Appleton, Betty (Steve) Beckman of Grafton, Nancy (Bob Bergman) Schowalter of Blachardville, Paul Schowalter of Baraboo, Carl (Kathy) Schowalter of Port Washington and Amy Schowalter of Tampa, Fla.; mother-in-law, Hildegarde Bremser of Port Washington; sisters-in-law Darleen (Bob) Evraets of Plymouth and Kay Bremser of Port Washington; aunt, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many friends.
Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Bud; his brother, Bill; his father-in-law, Melvin; and his brother-in-law, Ernie.
Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. today, April 23, at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 W. Grand Ave., Port Washington, with Deacon Ronald Schneider officiating. A time of gathering will take place at Eernisse Funeral Home from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today.
