Arthur A. Wilkens

Arthur A. Wilkens, 90, found eternal rest on Friday, July 31, 2009, at St. Josephís Hospital of West Bend.

He was born Oct. 23, 1918, to Otto and Augusta (nee Nitschke) Wilkens in the town of Farmington. On Aug. 4, 1951, he married Adeline Lydia Lehn at St. Paulís in Slinger.

Arthur was a lifelong member of St. Johnís of Newburg. Arthur proudly served his country during WWII in Italy, where he was awarded the Purple Heart. Arthur retired from West Bend Company after years of dedicated service. Most of all, Arthur was a hard working man who enjoyed working in his garden and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his loving wife, Adeline; children, Dianne (Bill Jr.) Schreiber, Eileen (Bob) SearVogel, Sharon (Rick) Wilking, Paul (Karen), Allen (Denise), Ron (Linda) and Arleen (Jeff) Bolwerk; 13 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Arthur is further survived by sisters, Arline (the late Waldemar) Luft, Leona (the late Hilbert) Scheunemann; sister-in-law Esther (the late Elmer); and a daughter, Beverly from a previous marriage. Also survived by nieces, nephews and friends. Preceded in death by his parents and one grandchild.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2009, on their 58th wedding anniversary at 5 p.m. at St. Johnís Evangelical Lutheran Church, 621 Division St. Newburg, with the Rev. Jon Baumann officiating. Friends and family may visit from 2 p.m. until the time of service at 5 p.m. Interment to follow at St. Johnís Cemetery.
