Ethel F. Pretsch

Ethel F. Pretsch (nee Gundrum), 80, of West Bend, passed away Sunday, Aug. 2, 2009, at the Samaritan Health Center, West Bend, where she was a resident for the past 13 years.

She was born April 21, 1929, in Milwaukee to the late Blasius A. and Loretta (nee Mayer) Gundrum. The family moved to Slinger shortly after she was born.

Following her marriage to Walter F. Pretsch on Nov. 5, 1949, at St. Peterís Catholic Church in Slinger, they made their home in West Bend. For 12 years, she worked at the West Bend Company. She then became a loving stay-at-home mother of five children.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, doing arts and crafts and helping others. Being an avid collector of Beanie Babies, she always had her room decorated for the upcoming seasons. Her love for others and the family pets will always be remembered.

Survivors include her husband; their five loving children, Walter L. and Vickie (nee Seegert) Pretsch of West Bend, Jennifer A. (Stevenson) Pretsch, legally changed to Faith Hope (Pretsch), and Ronald Werner of Lomira, Kenneth A. Pretsch of West Bend, Cheryl (Pretsch) L. and Gregory Pohl of Sheboygan and Lorie M. (Pretsch) (Pohl) and Shane Davis of Stigler, Okla.; her caring grandchildren, Jamin and Patricia Werner, Dean and Ashley Pretsch Jeffery Pohl and special friend Stephanie, Tammy Seegert and special friend Ryan, Benjamin Stevenson and special friend Sarah, Andrew and Jennifer Pohl, Tracie Pretsch and special friend Tim, John Werner, Samantha (Stevenson) and Michael Lauber, Kevin Pretsch and fiance Kristin, Michael Pohl and fiance Laura, Austin Davis, Casey Davis, Chloe Davis and Caleb Werner; her great-grandchildren, Ashlynn, Dean, Jr., Alexandra W., Rylan, Alexandra D., Daylyn, Elizabeth, Mikayla, Mikinzie, Levi, Savannah; and a new great-granddaughter, Maddilynn, expected in October; a sister, Virginia (nee Gundrum) Riemann of Florida; a1 brother-in-law, Kenneth Krueger of Arizona; other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Genevieve Krueger, and a brother-in-law, Richard Reimann.

A memorial service in remembrance of Ethel will be held on Friday, Aug. 7, at 7 p.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home, West Bend, with the Rev. Jeff Haines officiating. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Peterís Cemetery (old), Slinger. The family will greet relatives and friends on Friday from 4 p.m. until 6:45 p.m. at the funeral home.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered in our hearts.
