Bernice A. James

Bernice A. James (nee Morroway) died peacefully on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2009.

Bernice was born on March 5, 1914 in Kenosha. She has now rejoined her best friend and beloved husband of 55 years, the late Frederick Ralph James, and her son, the late Jerome R. James, and her daughter, the late Linda Louise James.

Bernice went to Mary Bradford High School in Kenosha, was a nursing assistant at Villa Clement Nursing Home in Milwaukee and taught private piano lessons. She was a member of New Hope United Church of Christ in Jackson and played piano for the church.

She is survived by her daughters, Regina (Robert) Ostrander and Valerie (Archie Morris) James; daughter-inlaw Jo Ellen James; ex-son-inlaw Victor (Mary) Nonnweiler of Marinette; and sister-in-law Gladys James. She is further survived by her grandchildren, Edward (MaryRose Martini) Nonnweiler, Lonnie (Brenda) James, Victor M. (Lisa) Nonweiler, Jessie (Mary) Burg, Jennifer James, Holley James, Renee (Jeffrey) Tolsma, Meredith (Kurt) Hilgart and Peter Kopczynski; nieces Virginia Chinelli and her daughters and Barbara (John) O’Mara and children, and nephew Buster S. (Pauline) Shimek and children. She is also survived by her good friends, Martha Mate and Sally Dembiec.

She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Irene Kitchen; sisters Dorothy Langer and Arlene Shimek; and btothers Louis Morroway and Earl Morroway.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
