Geraldine "Jerri" Starzman
Geraldine "Jerri" Starzman, 80, of West Bend, was born to eternal life on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2009. Jerri spent her last moments in her favorite place on earth, her kitchen. She was making chicken soup, which she undoubtedly planned to share.
Jerri was born on Oct. 17, 1928, to Everett and Viola (nee LaBonde) Starzman of Milwaukee. She began working as a telephone operator after high school. After 35 years, she retired from the business office of the same company.
Known all her life as a talented cook and baker, she blessed family and friends with comfort foods and treats from her kitchen. She had a soft spot for children and animals. Her brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and even our animals were "spoiled" whenever possible. She was the proud matriarch of her large and extended family. One of her greatest pleasures was watching the birds and small creatures at the feeders on her patio.
Jerri was blessed to spend her last years surrounded by special friends. Angels, really, who shared meals with her, tended her flowers, supported her independence, protected her and just loved her. You angels know who you are!
Jerri is survived by her sisters, Jean (Glen) Norlander, Roseann (Ken) Donahue; brothers, Jim (Mary) Starzman and John (Pattti) Starzman. She is further survived by her nephews, Mark (Sharon) Norlander, Dan (Teresa) Norlander, Brad (Beverly) Norlander, Greg Starzman, Russ Starzman, Frank (Mary Lou) Finman, Mike (Jenny) Starzman, Donald Starzman and Tom Starzman; nieces, Renee (Gordy) Fabry, Robin (Chad) Whelan, Michelle (Steve) Schulz, Heidi Jo (Randy) Hellesen and Lori (Al) Baumgartner; loving great-nieces and -nephews, other relatives and many special friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Kenneth (Darlene); and nephew, Jeff (Vickie) Norlander.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Aug. 20, 2009, at 7 p.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel of West Bend with the Rev. Matthew Short officiating. Interment will take place at Sunnyside Cemetery in Menomonee Falls. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday, Aug. 20 from 4 p.m. until time of service.
