Michael H. Kopp, 66

Michael H. Kopp, 66, passed away Dec. 3, 2009, after a year-long battle with cancer.

He was born in Milwaukee on March 8, 1943, to Edna and Harvey Kopp.

He grew up in Thiensville and graduated from Cedarburg High School in 1960.

After high school he attended the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse and when he was 22 years old, he moved to Colorado where he met his wife of 43 years, MaryAnn Niehus Kopp.

Mike was devoted to his family: Dr. Dionne (Kopp) and Dr. Eric Eastmo of Rapid City, S.D., and their sons, Matthew, Michael and Jacob; Shannon (Kopp) and Mike Garcia of Colorado Springs, Colo., and their daughters, Allie, Ashlynn and Kayla; and Trevor and Monica Kopp of Chicago, and their children Jadelyn, Jiana and Kaden.

Mike served as an Allstate Insurance agent for 30 years before selling his agency and retiring at the age of 57. He enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his friends. The day before his cancer diagnosis, he was thrilled to do what most golfers only dream about he got a hole in one!

Mike traveled frequently to discover the beauty of Colorado, to visit his nine grandchildren and to explore other parts of the world. He wintered in southern Florida with his wife and siblings, Sandy and Bob Stelter of Grafton, and George and Jane Kopp of Fontana.

Mike was a loyal, prudent and hardworking business man, but will be most remembered as a loving and remarkable husband, father, grandpa, brother, uncle and friend. He blessed our lives with laughter and his spirit will continue to make our hearts smile until we are reunited with him in the kingdom of heaven.

Services will be held in Colorado Springs on Wednesday, Dec. 9.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to the Pikes Peak Hospice Foundation, 825 East Pikes Peak Avenue, Suite 600, Colorado Springs, Colo., 80903-3624.
