John A. ‘Red’ Bowe, 78

John A. "Red" Bowe, 78, of Waupaca, died unexpectedly on Tues-day, Dec. 8, 2009, in Waupaca. He was born on May 13, 1931, in Appleton, the son of the late Eldred and Florence (Winkler) Bowe.

Red served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1951-1955. On Oct. 8, 1955, Red married Margaret Krell at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Kewaskum. Red worked at Kasten Manufacturing, Walter’s, Morton and Wick Buildings and was still involved with the business.

Red loved his family and enjoyed going to his grandchildren’s sporting events. He also enjoyed bowling, golfing and going south for the winter.

Red is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Margaret, his children, Lori (Ron) Cloninger, Weyauwega; Mark (Becky) Bowe, Appleton; Gary (Zona) Bowe, Antigo; Scott Bowe, Omaha, Neb.; and Sheri (Jed) Cain, Waupaca; six grandchildren, Daniel and Katherine Cloninger, Sarah Bowe, and Alisha, Melissa and Jared Cain; his brother Cal (Barb) Bowe, West Bend; and his mother-in-law, Anna Krell, West Bend; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Waupaca. Father Brian Belongia will officiate. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.

A reception to celebrate Red’s life will be held at Hahnalula Resort in Fremont, following the service.

A memorial fund has been established.
