Arthur Darrell Fideler, 73, of West Bend, went to be with the Lord on Dec. 19, 2009, surrounded by his loving children and grandchildren.
Darrell was born and raised in Delmont, S.D., to Arthur and Lydia (nee Hochhalter). He enlisted in the U.S. Navy at age 17. Following a three-year stint in the Navy, Darrell enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and retired after 20 years of military service from the Air Force Logistics Command as a Senior Master Sergeant. During his military career, Darrell had assignments in the Far East, Alaska, Iowa and Ohio. Settling in West Bend in 1974, Darrell worked for many years at Mallard Coach, and later at Serigraph. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. Most of all, Darrell loved his children and grandchildren and did his best to stay involved in their lives.
Darrell is survived by his children, Tamara (Peter) Heron, Andrew Fideler, Sandra (Vince) Church and Landon (Annette) Fideler as well as 14 grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren. He is survived by his brothers, James (Linda) and Larry (Virginia), and sisters, Deanna (Edward) Nolz and JoAnn (Peter) Maniaci. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
His parents, Arthur and Lydia; son, Thomas Allen; and brothers, Calvin and Robert, all preceded Darrell in passing.
A funeral service will be held 6 p.m. today, Dec. 22, 2009, at the funeral home with the Rev. Dan Luetke officiating. Visitation will be today at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until time of service at 6 p.m.
