Mae I. Wenger
(nee Jochem), 84, left this earth on Monday, Dec. 21, 2009, to begin her
journey to the home of the Lord.
Mae
was born May 22, 1925, in Hartford to John and Rose (nee Feutz) Jochem.
She was united in marriage to William “Bill” Wenger, Jr. on Oct. 15,
1955, at St. John United Church of Christ in Hartford.
Mae and Bill owned and operated the Hulisburg Cheese Factory and store,
and were known for the trademark Golden-Bar Brick cheese. Bill preceded
her in death in 1991, at which time she made her home in Hartford, which
she considered to be her home town.
When she was able, she loved to travel and entertain. Mae was a great
cook and baker. She had a great personality and a love for life and
people.
Mae
was a loving mother to Terry “Pepper” Wenger of Hartford and Heidi
(Steve) Scharrer of Allenton. She
cherished her grandchildren, Melissa and Cody Scharrer. Mae is also
survived by her sister-in-law, Gertrude “Toots” Cundy; and her
brother-in-law, Fred (Mildred) Wenger. She is further survived by
nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Mae
was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; and her grandson, Timothy
Scharrer; her brother-in-law, Calvin Cundy; and her sister-in-law,
Martha (Arnold) Lisko.
Funeral Services for Mae will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009, at 1
p.m. at the Shimon Funeral Home with the Rev.
Wayne Adcock officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 11 a.m.
until the time of service. Interment at Pleasant Hill Cemetery
