Patricia Ann ‘Patt’ Ritger, 60

Patricia Ann "Patt" Ritger (nee Kuhnwald), 60, passed away unexpectedly at her home in West Bend on Monday, Dec. 28, 2009.

Patt was born on May 3, 1949, in Racine. She was the first of four children to Arnold and Elizabeth (nee Van Bussum) Kuhnwald. She lived in Racine for many years where she graduated from Horlick High School, married and became Patricia Lamberty and had her first child. She worked for the Racine Unified School District and co-operated the Mulberry Bush. She later moved to Waterford, where she remarried and became Patricia Baumeister. During this time, she worked for the Waterford School District, St. Francis Monastery and Aurora Health Care. She would finally go to work for the Wm. K. Walther Co., move to West Bend and meet her current husband. She enjoyed an active lifestyle, camping, wildlife and the outdoors, a variety of crafts, baking and a spending time with family and friends. Her outgoing personality was perfectly intertwined with caring and compassion. Laurel Thatcher once said, "Well behaved women rarely make history." One might think that she knew Patt personally. Those of us who did will greatly miss the history she made with each one of us!

Patt was the devoted wife of Thomas Ritger; loving mother of Heather (Matthew) Kallas; and proud grandmother of Cody and Payton. She is further survived by innumerable relatives and friends.

She has been reunited with her parents and sisters, Judith Kuhnwald and Barbara Kautenberg, who preceded her in death.

Memorials to the family will be used to plant a tree in her memory.

A funeral service for Patt will be at noon on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010, at Phillip Funeral Home, 1420 W. Paradise Dr., West Bend, with the Rev. Jeff Haines officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010, from 10 a.m. until time of service. Cremation at Paradise Cremation Services.

The Phillip Funeral Home of West Bend is assisting the family.
