Robert A. Tietyen, 89

Robert A. Tietyen, 89, a resident of Woodland Senior Park, died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009, at St. Agnes Hospital. He was born on Nov. 28, 1919, in the township of Greenfield in Milwaukee to Edward and Amanda Pagenkopf Tietyen.

He married Ann Bittner on Dec. 21, 1940, in Port Washington. Ann preceded him in death on Sept. 5, 2001.

Robert was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army Infantry. He worked at Omar Bakery and owned Bobís National Brand Store in Port Washington. He also worked for Moormanís Feeds as a salesman, sold cars and last of all worked as a gas station manager for Speedway Gas, where he retired from. He was a member of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church. Robert loved gardening, people and the Lord.

Robert is survived by four children, Robert E. (Jacqueline) Tietyen of West Bend, Wayne J. (Gloria) Tietyen of Neshkoro, JoAnn M. (Arthur) Hoffert of West Bend and Nancy J. (John) Wilkens of Malone; 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Henrietta Tietyen of Cedarburg; a brother-in-law, Harvey Freitag of Saukville and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and three brothers Norman, Kenneth, and Frederick.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 5 at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1600 South Main Street, Fond du Lac. The Rev. Jon Cox will officiate. Cremation has taken place with inurnment of the cremated remains at St. Johnís Lutheran Church in Newburg.
