Karen L. Pamperin

Karen L. Pamperin (nee Wing), 67, of Hartford went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Feb. 6, 2009, at Cedar Lake Community in West Bend after a courageous and spirited battle with ALS.

Karen was born Sept. 20, 1941, in Milwaukee to Marvin and Dove Eye "Jackie" (nee Johnson) Wing. She was united in marriage to Merle Pamperin on May 3, 1969, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hartford.

Karen, a member of the First United Methodist Church, was a registered nurse. She provided care in many different venues, beginning in the operating room and ending as a founding nurse for the Hospice Program at Cedar Lake Community. Karen loved all animals. She enjoyed feeding Godís creatures on her patio and in her master gardens, allowing birds and butterflies to abound. Karenís care for animals and people was commingled with the founding of Peaceful Hills Pet Cemetery. She ran the cemetery for 26 years. Karen was a three-time cancer survivor and was made an honorary speaker for the West Bend Relay for Life in 2005. She will be dearly missed by all.

Karen is survived by her husband of 39 years, Merle Pamperin; her children; Dana (Charlie) Johnson of Waukesha and Lance (Kristi) Pamperin of St. Cloud, Minn.; her grandchildren, Odin, Trygg Johnson and Zachary Pamperin; her sisters-in-law, Carol (Paul) Frank of Mayville and Lila (Curt) Weide of Oconomowoc. She is further survived by nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and parents-in-law.

Memorial funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 9, 2009, at at the First United Methodist Church in Hartford with Rev. Brian Kundinger officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the ALS Association are appreciated.
