Carol M. Leider
Carol M. Leider, 90, a resident of Cedar Grove Gardens in Cedar Grove, went home to the loving arms of our Lord early Monday, Feb. 9, 2009, at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan where she was a patient for the last three days.
She was born on Dec. 22, 1918, in Mayville, the daughter of the late Owen and Clara Beck Foley.
She attended Holy Trinity Grade School in Newburg and graduated from West Bend High School in 1936. Carol also attended and graduated from Miss Brown’s Business School.
On January 23, 1943, she married Victor Leider in Turlock, Calif. When Victor was stationed in Europe she returned to the West Bend area. After WWII Carol and Victor made their home in Waubeka and raised their family. In 1976 they moved to West Bend. Carol lived there until 2003 when she moved to Hingham to live with her daughter. In November she moved to Cedar Grove Gardens.
She was a member of the Christian Women, Daughters of Isabella and quilted for many years with the Ladies of the Samaritan Guild in West Bend. She loved spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren. She always enjoyed a Manhatten and a good game of sheepshead.
Survivors include two children: Judith Heimerl of Hingham, Dan (Sue) Leider of Ringle; grandchildren: Bob (Kristi) Heimerl of Sheboygan, Tim (LaRae) Heimerl of West Bend, Bill Heimerl Jr. of Milwaukee, Amy (Tom) Olejnik of Menomonee Falls and Micca Leider of Duluth, Minn.; great-grandchildren: Ally and Danielle Heimerl, Katrina and Justin Heimerl and Claire, Ty and Maggie Olejnik. a sister-in-law, Rosemary Foley of Waukesha; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Victor; two brothers, Jack and Tom Foley and her son-in-law, Bill Heimerl.
A special thank you to the 5th floor staff at St. Nicholas Hospital for their compassionate care of our mother. Also a thank you to Cedar Grove Gardens for making Mom feel welcome and comfortable in her new home. And last to Mom’s "sweet little girl" Abby Mondloch for her loving care.
Funeral Mass will be held at noon Saturday, Feb. 14, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plymouth. The Very Rev. Dennis Van Beek will officiate. Burial will be in the Washington County Memorial Park in West Bend. Visitation will be held at the church only from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established in her name for the St. John the Baptist Catholic School "Angel Fund."
