Louise V. Martens

Louise V. Martens died peacefully on Monday, Feb. 9, 2009, at the age of 99. She was a longtime resident of the Cedar Lake Campus, where she has been lovingly taken care of for the past 11 years.

Louise was a member of St. Johnís Lutheran Church, Grafton, where she participated in quilting, greeting, and hospitality. She was known for her warm smile and endless supply of kisses. She was loved and cherished by all who knew her, her faith was strong, her love endless, and she was truly a child of God.

Louise was born in Iron Mountain, Mich., to Fred and Alice Groleau on Aug. 17, 1909. She married Edward Martens on Sept. 15, 1928. They had three children, Patricia Biedenbender-Leaman, Edward (Vicki) and Robert (Dorothy). She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, son Robert, and two sons-in-law, Dale Biedenbender and John Leaman.

She is survived by her beloved daughter, Patricia; grandchildren, Crystal (Jim) Berg, Donna (Paul) Ohm, Dan (Traci) Biedenbender, and Steve (Debbie) Biedenbender; great-grandchildren, Angela Ambroziak, DJ Berg, Andrea (Zach) Schultz, Tricia Ohm, Patty (Eric) Gitter, Rebecca (Jeremiah) Quirk, LeAnne Berg, Nick Biedenbender, Julia and Dani Biedenbender; and great-great grandchildren, Taylor and Scott Schultz and Brayden Ambroziak. She is also survived by her sister, Elayne La Court of Green Bay, and 22 more grandchildren and great grandchildren out of the area.

Visitation will be held today, Feb. 17, 2009, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at St. Johnís Lutheran Church (Lakefield), Grafton, with a service to follow. Memorials can be directed to St. Johnís Lutheran Church or Cedar Community in West Bend.
