Irene F. Breit

Irene F. Breit (nee Wiedmeyer) of West Bend was called home to the Lord on Monday, Feb. 16, 2009, at the age of 86. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Roman J. Breit and her oldest son Roman A. Breit.

She will be lovingly missed by her family including her son Gerald of Campbellsport; daughters Christine of West Bend and Judy Sweet of Olympia, Wash; seven grandchildren: Cindy (Roger) Skibinski, Gary (Stacia) Breit, Brian (Lauren) Breit, Kerry (Gilbert) Clarke, Kelley (Joe) Stout, Benjamin Sweet and Melissa Sweet; eight great-grandchildren Brian (Niki) Skibinski, Kyle Skibinski, Gabrielle Breit, Joshua Breit, Noah Breit, Anna Breit, Nathan Breit and Natalie Clarke; daughter-in-law Carole Breit; brother-in-law Andrew Breit; sister-in-law Edna Breit, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Irene was a devoted wife, loving mother and proud grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved to stay busy and enjoyed participating in sewing club, study club, Homemakers, and the Christian Women at St. Maryís Catholic Church in West Bend. She also found great joy in playing sheepshead, collecting stamps and coins, gardening, baking and entertaining family and friends. Her special bond and the quality time she spent with each of her children brought her tremendous joy.

She was born on July 7, 1922, at the family homestead in the town of Farmington. Following her marriage to Roman J. Breit on April 18, 1942, at St. Michaelís Catholic Church, the couple resided in the town of Farmington for a short time before moving to Newburg, where they lived for four years. They then settled in Barton where they built their home and established Romyís Barber Shop. They enjoyed their lives together in this home until Romanís death in 2007. During the last few months, Irene has resided at Ivy Manor in Campbellsport.

In addition to her husband and son, she was also preceded in death by her parents, Frank J. and Anna K. (nee Berg) Wiedmeyer; her five brothers and sisters: Mathias Wiedmeyer, Hildegard Gonring, Leo Wiedmeyer, Agatha Breit and Francis Wiedmeyer; and her daughter-in-law Marilynn Breit (nee Darmody).

A Mass of Christian Burial for Irene and her son Romy will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21 at St. Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with burial following in St. Maryís Cemetery on Forest View Drive. Visitation is at the church from 9:30 a.m. until 11:15 a.m.
