Martin "Marty" Schraufnagel
Martin "Marty" Schraufnagel, 75, of Mayville, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009, surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Martin was born Dec. 23, 1933, in Farmersville, the son of Peter and Mary (nee Brill) Schraufnagel. He was united in marrage to ElDonna Voight June 18, 1960, at St. Andrew Catholic Church in LeRoy.
Martin retired in 1992 from John Deere Co. in Horicon after 30 years. He was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Theresa, a member of Mayville American Legion Post No. 69 and a member of the Mayville Golf Club.. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving from 1952 to 1956. He loved playing golf, playing cards and spending summers in Shawano and winters in Arizona.
Martin is survived by his wife, ElDonna, of Mayville; children: Cindy (Brad) Steinbachk of Mayville, Lori (Stu) Strook of Mayville, Steve (Stacy) Schraufnagel of Chandler, Ariz., and Brian (Michelle) Schraufnagel of Farmersville; grandchildren: Leslie and Craig Steinbach of Mayville, Steve, Callee and Cassie Strook of Mayville, Amanda and Aidan Schraufnagel of Chandler and Kate Schraufnagel of West Bend; brother Henry (Marlene) Schraufnagel of Farmersville; brothers-in-law Tony Hesprich of Lomira and Thomas Peltier of Wales. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A funeral service for Martin will be held at 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 23, 2009, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mayville with the Rev. Tom Biersack officiating. Entombment will be at Shrine of Rest at Ledgeview Memorial Park in Fond du lac. Visitation will be Monday at the church only from 2 p.m. until the time of service.
