Elizabeth R. Simpson

Elizabeth R. Simpson (nee Kretschmer), 85, of King, formerly of Brookfield, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Feb. 13, 2009, at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King.

Elizabeth was born Jan. 6, 1924, in Taylor County, to Carl and Rose (nee Schmahl) Kretschmer. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Simpson on March 17, 1945, in Whitewater.

Elizabeth worked for many years in various positions at the family-owned Fox & Hounds restaurant. She also was a cook at Hartford Hospital. In her later years she was an active member of Hartford Senior Friends.

Elizabeth is survived by her son, David (Elizabeth) Simpson of Florida, and her daughter, Jane (Josef) Ratzsch of Las Vegas; three grandchildren, Michelle (Roger) Lemler, Mena Adlam and Josef S. Ratzsch; two great grandchildren, Hunter and Samuel Lemler; her sister Edith Albrecht of Rochester, Minn., and her brother, Alfred Kretschmer of Medford. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; grandson, Christopher Stuesser, and two sisters, Elsie Troller and Alma Dassow.

A gathering of remembrance for Elizabeth will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Shimon Funeral Home, 824 Union Street, Hartford.

Private inurnment at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hartford.
