Michael F. Laufer, 60
Michael F. Laufer of Milwaukee died peacefully on February 23, 2009 at the age of 60 at Aurora VNA Zilber Family Hospice in Wauwatosa after a courageous battle with liver disease and cancer.
Mike was born on July 6, 1948 in West Bend to Otto and Beatrice (nee Benike) Laufer. He was united in marriage to Deborah Christopherson on July 11, 1994 in Door County.
Mike held a Bachelors Degree in Art Education and a Masters Degree in Administrative Leadership. Mike was a teacher whose talent, skill, friendliness, optimistic spirit and a deep personal caring of others made life-long impressions on all those he met. He was employed by Milwaukee Public Schools, 15 years at Bell Middle School and 2 years at Bradley Tech. Mike was a pigeon enthusiast, participating in national bird shows, he also enjoyed gardening.
Mike is survived by his loving wife Deborah Laufer; his step son Tony (Lisa) Miedema; his brothers and sisters Joel (Geralyn), Rachel (Bill) Casey, Alan (Carolyn), Donna, Julian (Jane), David, Peter (Lisa), Emily, Mary and John. He is further survived by brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services for Mike will be held on Thursday, February 26 at 7:00 p.m. at the Shimon Funeral Home in Hartford. Family will greet relatives and friends on Thursday at the funeral home from 4 – 7 p.m.
