Virginia A. Kempf

Virginia A. Kempf (nee Landvatter), 93, of West Bend, passed away on Monday, Feb. 23, 2009, at St. Josephís Hospital in the town of Polk.

She was born on June 19, 1915, to the late Alvin and Ella (nee Hetzel) Landvatter. On Sept. 2, 1950, she was united in marriage to Paul Kempf at St. Johnís Evangelical Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death on Oct. 23, 1993.

Virginia worked as a deli manager for Red Owl in West Bend until she retired in 1978. She was a member of St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church for many years.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Lynette (Gary) Backhaus of West Bend; two loving grandchildren, Paul and Debra Backhaus; her loving friend, Bonnie Wery of Allenton; many other dear relatives and close friends.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, her daughter, Donna Mae Kannel; her brother and sister-in-law, Earl (Malinda) Landvatter; and sister and brother-in-law, Florence (Edward) Hack-

barth.

A funeral service in remembrance of Virginia will be held on Friday, Feb. 27 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Johnís Ev. Lutheran Church, 809 S. 6th Ave., West Bend, with the Rev. Jeff Dorth officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will take place in Washington County Memorial Park following the service.

Memorials to the American Cancer Society and St. Johnís Evangelical Lutheran Church are appreciated.
