Elizabeth A. Dale, 78
Elizabeth A. "Betty" Dale, 78, of Kingsport, Tenn. passed away Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2009.
She was born in Sherrill, Iowa, and raised in Dubuque, Iowa, attended St. Anthony’s Grade School and St. Joseph’s Academy in Dubuque, and earned her R.N. degree at St. Ambrose College in Davenport, Iowa.
Betty met and married Jack J. Dale in Dubuque Thanksgiv-ing Day in 1954. Together they raised three children in Dubuque, Iowa; Whitefish Bay, Kenosha and West Bend, Wis., and Huntington, W.V.
They retired to Mary Esther, Fla., and returned to Kingsport, Tenn. in 2003.
Preceding her in death were her father, Raphael Andrew Dupont; niece, Karen Lange; and sisters-in-law, Janet Dupont and Beryl Weigal.
Surviving are her husband of 54 years, Jack J. Dale of Kingsport; one daughter, Susan Schemmel and her husband David of West Bend; two sons, Steven O. Dale and his wife Sheila of Charleston, W.V., and Timothy Dupont Dale of Kingsport; three grandchildren, Andrew Schemmel and his wife Tabethe of Dubuque, Iowa, Joseph Schemmel of West Bend and Daniel Schemmel also of West Bend; her mother, Margaret Dupont of Dubuque, Iowa; two sisters, Shirley Bahl and her husband Charles of Dubuque, Pat Lange and her husband E. J. of Rockford, Ill.; and one brother, Donald Dupont of Palatine, Ill.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at St. Dominic Catholic Church, Kingsport, Tenn. A Mass of Resurrection will follow at 7 p.m. at the church with Fr. Charles Burton officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at Mountain Home National Cemetery, Washington County, Tenn.
Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
