Vernon M. Dengel, 84

Vernon M. Dengel, 84, of West Bend, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2009, at the Cedar Lake Health and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born on Sept. 28, 1924, in West Bend to the late George and Theresa (Jansen) Dengel and married Rose M. Koenings on Nov. 23, 1946, in West Bend.

Vernon graduated from West Bend High School before serving in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Following his discharge, he worked at the West Bend Co. for 43 years and was a member of the 25-year club. Vernon enjoyed raising roses, gardening, vacationing and fishing.

He will be sadly missed by his family who loved him dearly.

Vernon is survived by his wife of 62 years, Rose; his two sons, Stephen (Veronica) of Stoughton and Russell (Gail) of Mazomanie; and two grandchildren, Matthew (Nicole) of Madison and Kirsten Dengel of Minneapolis. He is further survived by his brother, Jim (Mary) Dengel of West Bend; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Koenings of West Bend and Buelah Koenings of Austin, Texas; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard and Robert; and his sister, Marguerite.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Schmidt Funeral Home in West Bend with Fr. Gerald Brittain officiating.

Visitation will be Saturday from 1 to 2:45 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial with inurnment will take place at a later date.

Memorials to the Lewy Body Society are appreciated.
