Elvera Marks, 87

Elvera Marks (Beck), 87, of West Bend, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 18, 2009, at the Washington County Samaritan Health Center in West Bend.

She was born on July 31, 1921, in the town of Sigel to the late Walter and Lydia (Haferman) Beck.

On Sept. 13, 1941, she was united in marriage to Clifford "CJ" Marks in Junction City and the couple moved to West Bend in 1943.

She was a longtime member of St. Johnís Ev. Lutheran Church in West Bend and enjoyed serving on St. Johnís Ladies Aid and St. Johnís Ladies Guild.

Elvera is survived by her three children, Bonnie (Tom) Arndt of West Bend, Betty (Steve) Roecker of Hazelhurst, and Dale (Diane) Marks of South Milwaukee; 10 grandchildren, Shelly (Terry) Ziegelbauer, Bruce Arndt, Brian (Jill) Arndt, Brett (Deanna) Roecker, Joelle Roecker, Jaime (Seth) Moore, Douglas Conery, Kristopher (Tanya) Marks, Brenda Marks, Carrie (Mark) Zirfloff; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Gladys Wussow, Myrtle King and Beverly (Jerry) DeMille; and many other close relatives and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford; her granddaughter, Patricia Arndt; and her grandson, Randall Arndt.

Funeral services will be held at noon Thursday at St. Johnís Ev. Lutheran Church, 809 S. Sixth Ave., West Bend. The Rev. George Mumm will officiate.

Entombment will follow in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend.

Visitation will be at the church on Thursday from 11 a.m. until the time of service.

Memorials to St. Johnís Ev. Lutheran Church or to the Cedar Community Hospice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
