Lydia A. Ziehl (nee Broehm), 95, of West Bend, died Monday, June 29, 2009, at Manor Care in Fond du Lac.
She was born Sept. 10, 1913, in Forest Junction, to the late August and Albertina (nee Schley) Broehm and married Walter A. Ziehl on June 1, 1932, in Forest Junction. Walter preceded her in death on Dec. 29, 1980.
She lived in Milwaukee for 30 years before moving to West Bend in 1968. She was a caregiver to many family members over the years. Lydia loved to work in her garden and was the recipient of the Mayor’s Beautification Award.
Survivors include her two daughters, Bonnie Johnson and Delores Bahr; 12 grandchildren, Rick, Patrice, Cheryl, April, John, Steven, Matthew, Debbie, Scott, Gary, Mike and Tammy; and six great-grandchildren, Christina, Matthew, Brandon, Ryan, Genevieve and Gabrielle. She is further survived by her two great-great-granddaughters, Grace and Stella, and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, Walter G.; a grandson, Randy; six brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 2, 2009, at 11 a.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home in West Bend with the Rev. Susan Kolb officiating. Burial will follow in Pinelawn Memorial Park in Milwaukee. Visitation will be Thursday, at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.
