Ralph C. Taylor, 88

Ralph C. Taylor, 88, of West Bend died Saturday, July 11, 2009, at the Kettle Moraine Gardens in Kewaskum.

He was born on Feb. 28, 1921, in the town of Barton to the late Clarence and Nellie (nee Zink) Taylor and married Bernadine E. Walter on June 5, 1946, in West Bend.

Bernadine preceded Ralph in death on Nov. 13, 2007.

Ralph served in the United States Navy as a diver during World War II in the Pacific Theatre. He owned Ralph C. Taylor Painting and Decora-ting in West Bend for many years. Following his retirement he owned the Kettle Moraine Rock Shop. Ralph enjoyed researching genealogy and helped his niece research a book. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman.

Ralph was very active and helped coordinate the Flag Day activities in Waubeka. He was also a scout leader and helped organize ice fisheries in the area.

He was a member and past post commander of the Fred A. Schaefer Post 1393 VFW, St. Mary’s Immaculate Concep-tion Church, Society of May-flower Descendants, a charter member of the World War II Memorial and a member of the Barton Historical Society.

Survivors include his nine children, Thomas (Pat) of Monroe, Wash., Patricia (Tom) Steffek of Townsend, Dennis (Sally) of Tipler, Susan (Paul) Maschmeier of West Bend, Kenneth (Sherry) of Kewas-kum, Steven (special friend Terri Megonigle) of West Bend, Nancy (Dale) Kordosky of West Bend, Christine (Nick) Schicker of Slinger and Scott (special friend Patricia Perras) of West Bend; 19 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He is further survived by two sisters-in-law, Marie Taylor and Delores Phillippi, both of West Bend; and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Ralph was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Nellie, his wife Berna-dine, a daughter Mary Ellen, four brothers, Arthur Jr., Karl, Russell and Chester and a son-in-law, Larry Watry.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 15, 2009, at 6:30 p.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home in West Bend with Dan Schroeder officiating. Burial will by Thursday at 2 p.m. in Newark Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, at the funeral home from 4:30 p.m. until 6:15 p.m.
