Robert G. Lawrence Robert G. Lawrence, 76,
of Born Sept. 30, 1932, in Robert served his country
during the Korean War in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Little. Mr. Lawrence
was employed by Modern
Woodmen of America for 42 years, retiring in 1998. He served on their
seven-member board of directors since March 1988, and had managed its
Wisconsin (SE) Agency in As Agency Manager, Robert
consistently led his agency to rank among the top five Modern Woodmen
agencies and had received the T.W. Cheney Achievement Award - Modern
Woodmen’s highest agency award four times, most recently in 1989.
Robert’s agency was the second in Modern Woodmen’s history to
reach $1 million of annualized premium in one year. Robert has earned the
designations Fraternal Insurance Counselor (FIC), Chartered Life
Underwriter (CLU), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) and Life
Underwriters Training Council Fellow (LUTCF). He is a graduate of the
Purdue University Professional Management Institute. He is past president and
director of many industry
associations; Milwaukee Fraternal Underwriters Association, National
Association of Fraternal Insurance Counselors (NAFIC),
Wisconsin State Fraternal Congress, Ozaukee-Washington Chapter of
the NALU (NAIFA) and Wisconsin General Agents and Managers Association (GAMA).
In 1989, Robert was nominated to the GAMA Conference Hall of Fame by the
Milwaukee Chapter and was inducted into the Wisconsin State GAMA Hall of
Fame in May 1994. Robert’s biography has
appeared in “Who’s Who in the Insurance Industry.” He was an active
participant in the Jesuit Retreat House in Robert is survived by his
five children, Cheryl (Russell) Stoeckler of Wauwatosa, Daniel (Kristi)
Lawrence of West Bend, David Lawrence, Barkhampsted of Conneticut, Janis
(Jamal) Awad of Deerfeeld, Funeral services will be
held at noon on Monday, July 27, 2009, at the Lippert-Olson Funeral Home, Condolences may be
