Erin Marie Cralley Smith
Erin Marie Cralley Smith, 29, of 320 16th St., Franklin, Pa., went home to be with the Lord at 10 p.m. on Monday, June 1, at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Northwest, Seneca, Pa., after a two-year courageous battle with cancer.
Born Aug. 15, 1979 in Chester, Pa., she was the daughter of Dennis Cralley and Jacqueline Grimm Cralley.
Erin graduated in 1997 from Rocky Grove High School in Franklin, Pa., where she was a member of the high school band and chorus. After attending Edinboro College in Pennsylvania, she moved to North Carolina where she met and married her late husband, Joshua Trenan Smith. Erin worked as a manager of Chilies in Winston-Salem, N.C., and had previously worked as an events manager at TPC-Wake Forest Country Club in Wake Forest, N.C.
After the onset of her illness, she relocated back to Franklin, Pa., to begin treatment. She was a member of Cooperstown United Methodist Church in Franklin, Pa., and a member of Elks Club BPOE 110, and Ducks Unlimited - Sugarcreek Valley Chapter. Erin enjoyed reading, Sudoku puzzles, and she loved the theater. She loved spending time in the North Carolina mountains and at the beach. Most of all, Erin loved spending time with her children and her nephew.
She will be remembered for her beautiful smile and her amazing strength and courage. Her battle with cancer was fought through her faith in God that grew stronger each day. Many lives were touched by her determination and courage.
Survivors include her parents, Dennis and Jackie Cralley of Franklin; her 5-year old daughter, Ryah Elizabeth, and 2-year-old son, Trenan Jesse; and her brother, Sean Cralley and his wife, Patty of Cooperstown. Her North Carolina family includes her mother-in-law, Debby Shelton Beauchamp of Advance, N.C., along with her four brothers-in-law, Jeremy Smith of Durham, N.C., Joel Smith of Advance, Jacob and Josiah Beauchamp of Advance; and her father-in-law, Thomas Smith and his wife, Patty, of Mocksville, N.C. Her paternal grandparents are Howard and Virginia Cralley of Cedarburg and her maternal grandmother is Anna Grimm of Kittanning, Pa. Her nephew is Dylan Cralley of Cooperstown, Pa.
Erin was preceded in death by her husband, Joshua Smith, in 2007, and maternal grandfather, Jack Grimm.
Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, June 4, at the Gardinier Funeral Home in Franklin, Pa.
Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Cooperstown United Methodist Church with the Rev. Joseph P. Martin Jr. officiating. He will be assisted by Pastor Will Pryor of Harvest Fellowship Church in Advance.
