Ruth Mancel, 90, formerly of Two Rivers, currently a resident of Manitowoc Health and Rehabilitation Center in Manitowoc, was called home to her Lord and Savior, on Sunday afternoon, June 28, 2009.
Ruth was born July 28, 1918, in the town of Gibson, the daughter of the late John and Rose Guse Ording. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Peterís Evangelical Lutheran Church. On Nov. 29, 1947, she married Robert A. Mancel in Mishicot. He preceded her in death on Oct. 24, 1990. Ruth was employed at Hamilton Manufacturing and Mirro Aluminum Co. for many years. She was a longtime member of St. Johnís Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she was active in the Ladies Society. After retiring, she was a volunteer at the Two Rivers Senior Center. Ruth was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved sewing and baking for her family and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law and their families, Judith Hansen of Manitowoc and her children, Jonathan, Katherine and Michael Hansen, Jean; and Robert Young of West Bend and their children, Robbie and Sarah Young; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Howard Havlichek of Two Rivers, Clyde Mancel of Manitowoc, Audrey Hannemann of Appleton and Junis Mancel of Shawano. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Ruth was also preceded in death by three sisters, Ethel Hammermeister, Viola Daetz and Hazel Havlichek.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at St. Johnís Evangelical Lutheran Church in Two Rivers. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. David Scherbarth with burial to follow at Forest View Cemetery, Two Rivers.
The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Johnís Evangelical Lutheran Church, Two Rivers, on Wednesday, July 1, 2009, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. There will be no Tuesday evening visitation.
Memorials in Ruthís name may be made to St. Johnís Evangelical Lutheran Church or St. Johnís Evangelical Lutheran Grade School.
