Marian M. Derby

Marian M. Derby of Hartford passed away Thursday, March 5, 2009, at the age of 88 years.

She was born June 17, 1920, in Hartford, the daughter of Fred and Eleanor (nee Kuester). She married Max Derby Aug. 26, 1946. Marian worked for the Federal Government as an inspector of government contracts in local factories and later at Great Lakes Naval Center. After their marriage, Marian devoted her time to making a home for herself and Max and their three children. She enjoyed crafts, fishing, golfing and 12 good years at their lake home on Shawano Lake. After her children were grown, her grandchildren became the love and joy that filled her life. She will be deeply missed by her family.

Marian is the loving wife of Max Derby. Dearest mother of Gerald (Sue) Derby of Chenequa, Sharon Gatlin of Eau Claire, and Cynthia (Mike) Hein of West Allis. Precious grandmother of seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Also surviving are nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Karl Thiel, and her sister, Winifred Mueller.

Visitation will be Saturday, March 7,2009, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home in Hartford. A funeral service will follow at the funeral home at 3 p.m. Interment will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
