James Dorfner, 62

James Dorfner, 62, of Slinger, was called home to be with the Lord after a five-month battle with cancer on Tuesday, March 17, 2009.

Jim was born on Sept. 20, 1946 to Robert and Lois (nee Strain) Dorfner in Kingston, N.Y. He moved to Milwaukee and married Kathleen (nee Guth) on Dec. 28, 1965. Although a private part of his life, Jim was also an honored veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.
Jim is remembered as a loyal friend to many, sharing in the love of the outdoors including his amazing gift of taxidermy. Yet his love for the outdoors did not match his love for his family. Values that he cherished in his journey that became so evident in his life included honesty, integrity, relationships and excitement for life. Jim will also be remembered for the twinkle in his eye, his loving smile and quick one liners. He will be greatly missed by many.

Jim is survived by the love of his life Kathleen and two children, Deborah (Gregory) Sanford and James (Susan Marie). He is further survived by his three adoring grandchildren, Nikki, Corbin and Cassandra; his mother Lois; four brothers and sisters, Andrew (Christine), Lois (Tom) Durr, Mary (Ron) Vana and Virginia (Scott) Baake; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, Robert; his granddaughter, Hope Marie Sanford; and mother-in-law, Delia Boser.
A funeral service will be on Saturday, March 21, 2009 at 1 p.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel of West Bend. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday, March 21 from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m.
