Bernice R. "Tommy" Willkomm

Bernice R. "Tommy" Willkomm of West Bend died on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at Kathy Hospice at the age of 85 years.

She was born on June 24, 1923 in the town of Addison to the late Louis and Anna (nee Krebs) Hatzung. At an early age, her family moved to West Bend, where she lived until the time of her death.

On Nov. 12, 1942, she was united in marriage to Leander N. Willkomm in West Bend.

In addition to being an avid sheepshead player, she enjoyed quilting and crochetting.

She was a life-long member of St. Johnís Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her husband; five children, Janyce Weaver of McFarland, Kenneth (Dorothy) of Rochester, Minn., Robert (Gayle) of New Berlin, Alan of Rockford, Ill. and Lori (Dan) Montaine of Grafton; eight grandchildren Mike Weaver, Greg (Erica) Will-komm, Kurt (Abby) Willkomm, Nicholas Willkomm, Nate Will-komm, Mary Willkomm, Emily Montaine and Joey Montaine; a former granddaughter-in-law Ann (Eric Weidling) Weaver; five great-grandchildren, Jessi-ca, Abigail, Matthew, Lily and Sadie; two sisters, Mardell Watzla-wick of West Bend and Ruth (LeRoy) Mucker-heide of West Bend; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, David Weaver; a brother, Arthur (Alga) Hatzung; a sister, Esther (Alfred) David; a sister-in-law Lillian (Herbert) Rost; and two brothers-in-law, Melvin (Loretta) Willkomm and Leroy "Giant" (Joyce) Will-komm.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 23 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Johnís Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. George Mumm officiating. Entombment will follow at Washington County Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the church only on Monday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the services.

The family has requested memorials to St. Johnís Evangelical Lutheran Church, Bethesda Lutheran Home or the charity of the donor's choice.
