Bette L. Brown

Bette L. Brown (nee Decker), 88, died on Saturday, April 25, 2009, at Anita’s Gardens in Port Washington.

Bette was born on Sept. 14, 1920 in Highland Park, Ill. There in 1940, she married Arthur J. Brown, who preceded her in death in 1995. She and Art raised their six children in Illinois before retiring to Wabeno, Wis., and later Cedarburg. Bette was a homemaker and interested in antiques, decorating and fine furniture.

Bette, a social person, spent her last employment working with senior citizens. First, she helped run the Glenview Care Center and later worked as activities director at the Cedarburg Senior Center. Bette spent most of her last 20 years in Cedarburg. For her final two years, she resided at Anita’s Garden, a residential care facility.

Bette is survived by her loving family and friends, including children, Arthur Jr., Patrick (Molly), Kathleen, Brook (Liz), Penelope (John Peloquin) and Mark (Susan); six grandchildren, Chris, Carey, Casey, Brittany, Justin and Alison; as well as three great-grandchildren, Fred, Pera and Zar (a fourth one is due any day now); and nieces, nephews and many good friends.

A memorial service will be held at a latter date. In lieu of flowers, donations to Anita’s Gardens c/o St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Port Washington.
