Mrs. Rita M. Helm

Mrs. Rita M. Helm, age 78 years of Wausaukee, formerly of Grafton, died Thursday evening, April 30, 2009, at Bay Area Medical Center in Marinette.

She was born Sept. 25, 1930 in Gary, Ind., the daughter of John and Irene Fifield Davies. When she was in the eighth grade, the family moved to Saukville. Her father operated the IGA store, where she worked for many years. She was a 1949 graduate of Port Washington High School and on May 27, 1950, she married Wilmer Helm at St. Peterís United Church of Christ in Saukville. In addition to being a homemaker, she worked at Sprague Electric Co. in Grafton for 17 years. After retiring, the couple moved to Wausaukee.

Mrs. Helm was a former member of St. Peterís United Church of Christ where she taught Sunday School for 10 years. She was currently a member of the Landt- Thiel American Legion Auxiliary and enjoyed camping, fishing, ceramics, cooking, baking, bingo, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Wilmer; her three children, Debra Helm of Grafton, Diane (Ronald) Jahn of Cedarburg and Scott Helm of Grafton; five grandchildren, Matthew, Kevin, James, Justin, and Brittany; her brothers John (Carol) Davies of California and Samuel Davies of Kaukauna; her sisters Donna (Clarence) Clontz of Arkansas and Darlene (Edward) Gavin of Lakewood, Wis. She is further survived by sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Richard, and one sister, Linda.

Funeral services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 8, at St. Peterís United Church of Christ, 166 W. Dekora St., Saukville. Visitation will be at the church from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Grafton.
