Reuben W. Hoelz, 90

Reuben W. Hoelz, 90, of West Bend died peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, May 5, 2009 at his residence.

He was born March 29, 1919 in Rockfield to the late Walter and Ella (nee Hornig) Hoelz and married Dorothy Heppe on May 12, 1948 in Slinger.

Reuben was a retired farmer from the Germantown area and was a member of N.F.O.  He enjoyed gardening, hunting, bowling, woodworking, baseball and was an avid sports fan. He was also employed with IDS Insurance and loved spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 61 years, Dorothy “His Angel,” six children, Kathy (John) Dolezal of Schaumburg, Il., Doug (Linda) of Mukwonago, Dale (Jolene) of Brownsville, Steven (Donna) of Wales, Mark (Terri) of West Bend and Laurie (Todd) Cicero of Palm Harbor, Fla.; 17 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is further survived by two sisters, Agnes Bast and Linda Sponholz, both of West Bend; two sisters-in-law, Joan Schellinger and Gen (Vic) Albiero, both of West Bend; a brother-in-law Luke Heppe of Jackson and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents Walter and Ella; his brother and sister-in-law, Clarence and Dorothy Mae Hoelz; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law Richard and Val Heppe; two brothers-in-law, Paul Bast and William Sponholz; and a sister-in-law Agnes Heppe.

A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Thursday, May 14, 2009 at noon at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Goldendale with Rev. Todd Budde presiding. Please meet at church for Mass. Burial will follow in St. Boniface Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, at the Schmidt Funeral Home in Jackson from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers memorials to St. Boniface Catholic Church, the American Kidney Foundation or the American Diabetes Association are appreciated.
