Beata E. Ehlke (nee Otto)


Beata E. Ehlke (nee Otto), 86, was called to heaven on Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009.

She was the beloved wife of Junier Ehlke for 63 years. They were married on Nov. 17, 1946, at Trinity Evalgelical Lutheran Church in the town of Jackson, following Junierís tour of duty in World War II in Germany.

Her early years of marriage were spent working on the family farm. When her youngest son, Charles, was in middle school, she started driving bus for handicapped school children. She did this for over 15 years.

Beata kept active throughout her life. She enjoyed bowling, card club, quilting, Ladies Aid and having parties with family and friends. Beata also enjoyed spending time at the family cabin in Crivitz and other vacation spots.

Beata worked for many years for Wayne and Jeanne Heidel, both at their residence and also at the Heidelís Restaurant in Jackson.

Survivors include her beloved husband, Junier Ehlke; four sons, Donald (Jewel) Ehlke, Gerald (Linda) Ehlke, Michael Ehlke and Charles Ehlke; grandchildren, Tammy Jo (Eric), Jamie (Alexandra), LeAnn and Shannon; and great-grandchildren, Aubrey and Quinlin. Also survived by loving sister, Veronica Dohrwardt; s i s t e r s - i n - l aw, Hildegarde Eickstedt, Leona Hilgendorf Myrtle Ehlke and Norma Ehlke; many other relatives and friends.
 

Beata was preceded in death by her mother, Martha Otto (nee Kluever); father, The Rev. Ferdinand Otto; sisters, Julia and Angela; and brothers, Timotheus, Traugott and Berthold Otto.

Beata will be remembered for her gentle nature and her positive spirit.

A funeral service for Beata will take place on Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Davidís Star Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kirchhayn. Visitation will take place on Saturday at the church from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Interment will take place at the church cemetery immediately following the funeral service. The Rev. Kurt Loescher will officiate the funeral service. Memorials to Davidís Star Evangelical Lutheran Church Building Fund or to the family are appreciated.
