Virginia E. “Jenny” Blank
Virginia E. “Jenny” Blank, 67, was taken to heaven on Nov. 15, 2009, in Flower Mound, Texas.
She was born Virginia Ethelene Smith on Oct. 10, 1942, in Golconda, Ill., the daughter of Earl and Ethel (nee Rorer) Smith.
Virginia was employed at Maysteel Corporation of Allenton for 15 years. Through work she met her beloved friends Renee Decker, Mitch Choy, Bob Strelow and Joann Captain. She retired in 2005. Virginia was a long time union member of her local Union 2053. She served as union vice president for eight years. Virginia was a delegated member to the union and enjoyed attending meetings and other events at the union hall.
Virginia enjoyed traveling and was a long-time NASCAR fan, often traveling to see the races. After retiring, she enjoyed traveling and camping with her family. She loved to take her grandchildren on special trips with her. Jenny relocated to Flower Mound, Texas, two years ago.
Virginia was a loving mother and will be deeply missed by her three adoring daughters, Shonna Christian of Madison, Shelly (Brian) Gehler of Juneau and Veronica (Jeff) Reeves of Flower Mound, Texas. Her three daughters have blessed her with nine grandchildren who she was devoted to and who will miss her, Sara, Bridget, Randy, Tabitha, Kassie, Alyssa “Baby Fat Face,” Joey, Brittany and Ella. She will be sadly missed by her sister, Lurene Vinyard; brothers, Paul (Josie) Smith and David Smith; and her special nieces, Sandra Britt and her name sake Virginia Lamparter, all of Illinois. Also survived by many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Earl Smith Jr., Russell Smith and Guy Smith; and her beloved brother-in-law, James Vinyard, all of Illinois.
Memorial Service will be held Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009, at 1 p.m. at the Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home in Hartford. Family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home from noon until 1 p.m. The Rev. Michael Gordon will officiate.
