Irene Henrietta Meta Clasen, 95

Irene Henrietta Meta Clasen, 95, died in the Aspirus Pleasant View Nursing Home in Phillips on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009, while under the care of Flambeau Home Health and Hospice.

She was born on Oct. 28, 1913, in Freistadt (Mequon). She was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, raising flowers, fishing, baking, playing cards and sewing. She was a past member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Thiensville, where she was active in the Ladies Aid, the Lutheran Women's Missionary Society, the choir, as well as the Wisconsin Lutheran High School Guild and Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary Auxiliary.

She was a past member of Zion Lutheran Church in Spirit before becoming a charter member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Phillips.

She married Fred Clasen on July 29, 1939, in Luther Memorial Chapel, Shorewood. They had two children, Elaine and Paul. They lived most of their lives in Mequon, retiring to Phillips in June of 1973. Fred preceded her in death on Jan. 13, 1986.

She is survived by her son, Paul (Lois), Stevens Point; granddaughter, Cheryl (Brian) Bolstad, Gilman; two grandsons, Steve

(Kris) Clasen, Grafton, and Walter (Beth) Luedor III, Hustisford. She is further survived by three sisters-in-law, her son-in-law, and by three great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Elaine; one grandson, Scott Clasen; one sister; and by three brothers.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17, at Our Savior Evangelical Lutheran Church in Phillips, with Pastor Nathan Wilke officiating.

The family suggests that memorials may take the form of a donation to Our Savior Lutheran Church or Northland Lutheran High School in Mosinee.

The Heindl Funeral Home in Phillips is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
