James H. West

James H. West, 74, of Hartford, formerly of the town of Polk, died on Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009, at Aurora Medical Center in Washington County.

He was born on July 9, 1935, in Oshkosh to the late Henry and Gladys (nee Wegner) West.

On Nov. 24, 1956, he was united in marriage to Joyce A. Henschel in Milwaukee. Joyce preceded him in death on April 9, 2003.

In 1961, the family moved to Menomonee Falls, and then in 1967 moved to Germantown. Twelve years later, they settled in the town of Polk. For the past four years, Jim has lived in Hartford.

Jim was employed as an inventory specialist with Badger Inventory Services, where he has worked for many years.

In addition to spending time with his family, he enjoyed golfing, fishing and hunting. He was a long-time and active member of the West Bend Lions Club, recently serving as president.

Survivors include three children, Jay (Shelley) of Medford, Jim (Sherri) of West Bend and Jean (Dan) Turk of DeForest; three grandchildren, Jenny (Jon) Dietz, Valentina (Adam) Arndt and Jeremy (Christine Mirr); three great-grandchildren, Zack and Xaver Dietz and Navaeh Arndt; a brother-in-law, Dan (Linda) Henschel; a niece, Karen Henschel; other relatives and friends.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Dave.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Oct. 30, 2009, at 7 p.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home, West Bend, with the Rev. Cheryl Matusiak officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday from 4 p.m. until 6:45 p.m.

The family has requested memorials to the Wisconsin Lions Foundation.
