Lawrence Peter Heller

Lawrence Peter Heller, 95, of Milwaukee, formerly of West Bend, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 30, 2009, at home.

He was born on Jan. 30, 1914, in Milo, Warren County, Iowa, to the late Frank and Rose (nee Hoch) Heller. Lawrence was raised on his parentís family farm near Milo, Iowa. On Dec. 29, 1948, he married Aurelia F. (nee Wiedmeyer) and they lived on his familyís farm in Milo for a year before coming to farm in Nenno. In 1960, the family moved to West Bend, where he was employed by the West Bend School District. In his spare time he loved woodworking, playing cards and spending time with his family.

Lawrence is survived by daughters, Rose Ann (Don) Bolstad of Hawthorn Woods, Ill., Mary Louise (Gordon) Steinbis of Colton, Wash., Donna Kathryn (Larry) Weingarten of Wauwatosa; grandchildren, Russell and Timothy Bolstad, Aulia (Matthew) Steinbis-Mikami, Anna Steinbis, Madeline, Loren and Logan Weingarten; great grandchildren, Orion and Everly Mikami; sister-in-law, Lucy (nee Cash) Wiedmeyer. Further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Aurelia F. Heller, and all his brothers and sisters.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday Sept. 5, 2009, at St. Anneís Salvatorian Home, 3800 N. 92nd St., Milwaukee. Visitation for family and friends is Friday, Sept. 4, at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel in West Bend from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home in West Bend with a Prayer Vigil at 7 p.m. Additional visitation will be held at St. Annís Home Chapel on Saturday, Sept. 5, from 9 a.m. until time of Mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment will take place at Holy Angels Cemetery in West Bend. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the St. Anneís Salvatorian Campus or St. Francis Cabrini Church, 1025 S. 7th St., West Bend, WI 53095, are appreciated.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the wonderful staff at St. Anneís Salvatorian Home, Odyssey Hospice and to everyone who offered support by visiting, sending cards and prayers for Lawrence.
