Avis Lill Regner, 86
Avis Lill Regner, 86, of St. Petersburg, Fla., died Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009.
She was married for 54 years to the late Frederick "Fritz" Regner Sr., a descendant of the pioneering West Bend family. Born in Marion, Ohio, to Raymond and Hazel Lill, she graduated from Toledo University as a Registered Nurse. During WWII she served with the VA Hospital of Milwaukee and held critical care, pediatric and OB/GYN nursing positions with a number of U.S. hospitals during her husband’s military career and served as a Red Cross School Nurse and Director of the Cub Scouts of America in Ashiya, Japan, during the early 1950s. She was a member of the American Nursing Association, the Retired Officer’s Wives Club – St. Petersburg and Tampa Chapters, Boca Ciega Sailing Association, American Contract Bridge League and was a water exercise instructor for Tampa Bay area senior communities.
Preceded in death by her husband Frederick Sr. (Major USAF Ret.), she is survived by her children, Frederick "Fritz" Regner Jr., St. Petersburg, Fla., Matthew (Deidra) Regner, Mebane, N.C., Major Gen. Michael (Mary) Regner, USMC, currently stationed in Calif., and Patricia (Niles) Eikenberry, Greenville, Ohio; grandchildren, Matthew Jr., Brennan, Gregg Hiller Jr., Nick Hiller, John Hiller, Capt. Michael Jr. (Erin), USMC, Julia and Jay, and great grandson, Michael III.
A family tribute will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 12, at Anderson-McQueen Family Tribute Center, 2201 MLK St. N., St. Petersburg, Fla.
