Esther E. Multhauf

Esther E. Multhauf (nee Schmidt), 91, passed away peacefully at the Mayville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Monday, Sept. 21, 2009.

Esther was born Oct. 16, 1917, in Hartford to Anton and Katherine (nee Peil) Schmidt. She was united in marriage to the late Herbert Multhauf on May 24, 1941, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Lawrence.

Esther loved being outdoors and enjoyed gardening. She enjoyed traveling and going on trips. Esther was a member of the Daughters of Isabella, Hartford Senior Friends and St. Matthew Catholic Church in Neosho.

Esther is survived by her children, Kathleen (Stanley) Zingler of Brownsville, Shirley Infalt of Hartford, Joseph Multhauf of Allenton and Frederick (Mary) Multhauf of Neosho; her grandchildren, Sheila (Corey), Michele, Kim, Scott, Wendy, Jason, Alicia and Kaitlyn; two great-grandchildren, Trevor and Kylie; and her sister, Eleanor Schmidt. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert; two infant children, Joseph and Anna Marie; her sisters, Martha (Michael) Hahn and Leona Schmidt; her brothers, Norbert and Anthony Schmidt; and her sister-in-law, Cecelia (Urban) Komp.

Mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009, at 7 p.m. at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 148 W. Lehman St., Neosho, with the Rev. Alois Van Beek officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4 p.m. until the time of Mass at the church. Interment at St. John Cemetery in Rubicon at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 25, 2009. Memorials to the charity of one’s choice are appreciated.
